Why Earthing is Necessary for your Health!

A lot of my posts talk about grounding which is another term for earthing.  It is easy for people to dismiss or write this off as some mumbo jumbo wish wash nonsense. However, there have been an increasing number of qualified and quantified research cases to back up this ancient wisdom.

As child of the pre-digital age, we spent it outside running around barefoot.  When I now do workshops with children the first thing they must do is take off their shoes in the classroom, as soon as they do that, it is like ahhh and they are so much more chilled and just take instruction better.

Grounding or earthing generally occurs at more at home, on the weekends. I am not sure whether you remember the clip of Richard Gere playing the millionaire in Pretty Woman and he is in the park in his lunch time with his shoes off. His words “this calms me down”.  This practice is not new, it is not even new age, it has and always will be.

As human’s or as plug in poles for our devices more than ever we really need to be aware the electrical charge, radiation we are exposing ourselves, our children and our pets to.  There is this perfect symbiotic relationship that we have with Mother Earth and one that we need to honor for our own good.  The best part about this, is it is FREE,  there is no pill, no device, no concoction that can really beat having time barefoot on the ground.

Stop for one moment and for some of us the following is  true: the fitbit/iphone/smartwatch wakes us in the morning,  which is blue tooth connected to our phone, that is connected to our home wifi, that connects our home TV’s to foxtel, NetFlix etc. Our music is streamed via our bluetooth speakers. We hop into our cars which are bluetooth connected to our phones. We stop at our favourite cafe for coffee and access free wifi, we then hop back into our cars and head into a work environment that has wifi/bluetooth devices. Our children go to school with wifi and bluetooth classrooms. Only to come home again and it is there. When do you think our bodies get a break from all of this radiation?  Some people experience a headache at the first instance a bluetooth device starts to pair, these people tend to in my experience have a pretty clean operating system (their body) with not a lot of inflammation. This is excluding the other radiation from just sitting at a PC or flying has the highest radiation, but I digress.

As we all work longer hours and our children are in shoes or in care for longer, it is hard to ensure that you get the recommended hour of grounding that your bodies need.  I used to travel a lot for work and I would take my oils to help ground me in the plane, and when I arrived, it meant that I slept well even in the most uncomfortable of beds.  Here is a list of my favourites and you can get yours by simply clicking on where to get it.  So my suggestion is use these as you need at best to make it a night time routine so that you and your family wake up refreshed and have a healthy happier body.

The best oils for Grounding/Earthing.

1.Vetiver ((where to get it)

Vetiver best used at night as in Ayurvedic terms it is the oil of tranquility or a tranquilizer.  Mix with Lavender is an absolute winner with children and FIFO workers.

2. Sandalwood (where to get it)

Either Hawaiian Sandalwood or Sandalwood, any time of day, applied to bottom of feet.

3. Cedarwood (where to get it)

Applied to bottom of feet preferrably in the evening. Cedarwood also invokes deep sleep, probably not best one if you have a red eye flight in the morning.

4. Frankincense (where to get it)

Applied to bottom of feet, soles of hands, or anywhere neat.

5. Myrrh (where to get it)

Applied to bottom of feet, you could apply to body lotion.

6. Patchouli (where to get it)

Applied with a carrier oil eg. fractionated coconut oil or even with your daily body lotion.

7. Roman Chamomile (where to get it)

Applied to bottom of feet best used in the evening as part of bed time regimen.

 

8. Ylang Ylang (where to get it)

Applied with a carrier oil eg. fractionated coconut oil or even with your daily body lotion.

9. Petitgrain (where to get it)

Applied with a carrier oil eg. fractionated coconut oil to bottom of feet. Petitgrain is the Lavender equivalent without the Linalool. Petitgrain is a citrus oil and is photosensitive, however, it has similar properties to Lavender, a wonderful replacement for those who are unable to tolerate Lavender.
